More history to overcome for McCain
By Wally EdgeIf John McCain wins the presidency he will bring with him the first female vice-president. I also wrote on September 4th that the McCain-Palin ticket was the first presidential ticket to be comprised of two candidates from the West. If McCain is to be elected there is another trend he will need to overcome and that's winning without a Nixon or Bush on the ticket. In 1928 Republican Herbert Hoover was elected President and and Charles Curtis was his Vice-President.
Fast forward 80 years and there have been 12 more Presidents elected to office including 5 Republicans. Of those 5 Republicans all of them had either a Bush or Nixon on the ticket.
