flier

I just got a flier from the Dems. and they want to keep my neighborhood safe. This is a laugh and a half, because they ALWAYS stick the child molesters fresh out of prison out in my area. When I complain about some concern about them,I`m considered an untolerable person. I guarantee,if the raping of teen girls would happen to them, they would NEVER put up with it, but it`s o.k for them to allow these creeps to rape my girls and or teens, and it`s o.k. for them to put these kind of people out in my area. You know why they put them out here???? It`s because, they refuse to have them in their neighborhood. Who`s the untolerable person now !!!! Thank you Democrats for watching out for and protecting me and my own !!!!

The bailout had to happen

cojones,

I appreciate what you are saying and I agree that Shadegg, a guy who earlier this year tried to retire and has said that he isn't really all that interested in the House (maybe the Senate) should probably be helped to retire this year, should the voters of district 3 be so obliging.

That said, the bailout was necessary. The backers of the bailout did a piss poor job of explaining exactly what would have happened on Main Street if it failed (other than to keep using the word, 'dire') but here is what would have happened.

1. The so-called 'overnight credit market,' the one that banks tap into to get the money they need every day to make sure they have it on hand, would have frozen up.

2. That would cause some banks (including credit unions, etc.) to not have enough cash on hand. This might cause them to limit how much of your own money you could take out of your account, delay paying on checks or otherwise limit the amount of money people could take out. The alternative would be to allow people to take everything out, which could cause a run on the bank and cause the bank to fail.

3. Some banks would be unable to cash the full value of payroll checks that employers draw on specified days, meaning that the employers would have to pay partial wages or delay paychecks.

4. Many people live paycheck to paycheck so when they got IOU's from their employers they would be unable to pay their bills, causing other creditors (like utility companies) to fall into the negative in their cash flow. Sure they could cut off people's electricity but people can't pay when they aren't getting paid. Other people have savings, but they'd have to draw on that and their savings might well be used up before the credit system was re-established (which could take several years.)

5. The Federal Deposit Insurance fund, financed by what amounts to a tax on the banks, would quickly be used up. Then we'd be back to talking about another bailout, but this time for the small investors.

The failure was not the bailout, and I believe the members of Congress who voted for it (and well knew all of the above) did the responsible thing. The failure was a failure to communicate exactly why it was necessary and what would be happening without it. So there are some children who are still playing games of partisan gotcha or demogoguing the issue who got control of the message and cast it as the taxpayers handing money over to fat cats on Wall Street so they could pad their golden parachutes and escape the consequences of their own bad decisions. That's not what this is about, and it never was.

Shadagg's bailout

Today, is a sad day for America. "Taxation without representation" is what is taking place and we the people simply gripe and do nothing. "It's the American way," you say.

Well, John Shadagg has just showed his true colors...a spineless, unprincipled "wonk."
GREED is his name and money is his game.
He voted for the bailout(S.3197)...sold his constituents in District 3 down the tubes. He really doesn't deserve the Senate seat vacated by Our "Marverick" Senator McCain.
Senator McCain said, time and time again, "This pen will strike those earmarks from the bill before I sign it" (or words to that effect). Tuesday, 10/01/08, he voted "aye" for USD128billion in earmarks. Our "maverick" Senator! We need more of the same? Vote out Shadagg. Vote "NO" McCain for President.

They don't deserve to be our Representatives.

Hold on to your hats, no change is coming

Notice that statistically "neither" is the correct answer given.

Why? Simple, because with uncertainty voters usually don't want to change their boxer briefs. Uncertainty in the state's finances, uncertainty in the economy, uncertainty in the global picture. It all comes back to no change. Too many voters remember Jimmy Carter.

The governor's done an outstanding job of gutting the state's finances (along with help from some of her closet Republicans).

Take note: before Janet leaves office she'll propose a hefty property tax hike once the state's residential real estate markets settle down.

Also mark this down too: When the McCain senate seat is vacated, Janet will appoint herself and jump ship before the ax falls on the state's financial pyramid.

Remember, Janet could not get away with her crap without the help of several legislators who call themselves Republicans, like the guy from LD-5.

Bailout for the Crooks of Finance...

Remember John McCain for the Keating 5. Also, we have bailed out so many of these crooks I feel we are living in Mexico when the President steals the treasury for himself and his friends...NO IN AMERICA.
The taxpayers are NOT their personal "piggy bank". We Should not give these "crooks" another penny for them to come back and do it again.
Any idiot would know we are having problems...but under the Republicans we have had over 50 years of financial difficulties...its obvious they have their fingers in the treasury...NO MORE!
