County Attorney candidate Gerald Richard appears to be having his second "endorsement" problem of the campaign. A few months back Richard had a quote on the news section of his website that said "Saban Endorses Gerald Richard for Maricopa County AG." Problem was, it was misleading. When you clicked on the link, it brought you to a blog that made the statement. While Richard's campaign themselves never said Saban endorsed them, the link with that title implied it. The blog was later updated to make the correction.
Now Scott Wong is reporting Richard's campaign is claiming the endorsement of two state Representatives, Ed Ableser and Steve Gallardo, who actually support his opponent Tim Nelson. Either the candidate or the campaign need to start being a little more careful when it comes implying endorsements

Saban support
Well Wally, it was the blog that (mistakenly) said Saban endorsed Gerald Richard, not the campaign. Saban did say he supports Richard, and in fact spoke at Gerald's announcement news conference. Here's what he said:
"It’s time for an innovative public safety professional who understands that innovative strategies come from being in the trenches. Gerald has not only been in the trenches, he has helped dig most of those trenches…It is time for a change in our county attorney. Gerald Richard is the right leader at the right time to accept this challenge."
So what's the problem?
Endorsements
A grass roots campaign by someone with a passion for public service will hopefully prevail against a well funded campaign of a person riding his bosses coat tails and moneymen.
