Only a day after winning the Republican nomination for president, Sen. John McCain marked another first by declaring his support for a congressional candidate: Senate President Tim Bee.
According to a press release issued by Bee spokesman Tom Dunn, McCain declared:
“Tim Bee has worked hard for the people of southern Arizona. He is a commonsense, independent, and proven leader. We need Tim Bee in Washington. I endorse Senator Tim Bee for U.S. House of Representatives in Congressional District 8.”
Bee reciprocated the kind sentiment, saying:
“Senator McCain and I share a common commitment to our national defense, our soldiers and our veterans. We also believe fighting terrorism includes denying Al Qaeda's mission to take over Iraq and use the third largest oil supply in the world to fund terrorist attacks against America and other freedom loving people. John McCain is an optimistic leader who has worked to build consensus in Congress as I have done for southern Arizonans in the State Senate. The leadership in Congress today is failing Americans and I look forward to working with Senator McCain to fix it."
