State Commissioner Jeff Hatch-Miller, one of the Republicans running for the U.S. Congress in District 5, says that his fundraising is progressing well.
“We’re on target with our fundraising,” he said. “We’re quite pleased with our response.”
Hatch-Miller joined the race in January, meaning that unlike his rival candidates he didn’t have to disclose his fundraising with the FEC in January.
Friday’s filing showed former Maricopa County Treasurer David Schweikert far outraising the Republican field in fourth quarter funds. Schweikert reported raising almost $506K in fourth quarter funds, with about $250K on loan from his own pocket.
Hatch-Miller declined to detail his fundraising but said that he had set a goal of raising $350K by the end of January and his campaign was ahead of that. He said that he had provided a substantial amount of the campaign’s money in a loan.
The campaign had its first fundraiser on January 16 and Hatch-Miller said the amount of money raised exceeded expectations.
A month after announcing his candidacy, Hatch-Miller says he is pleased with the campaign’s progress.
“I feel engaged, energized,” he says. “I am fully committed to this campaign and we are finding partners.”
Aside from fundraising, the campaign has been busy filling staff positions. A campaign manager, Hatch-Miller says, is coming aboard soon.
