Susan Bitter Smith enters crowded GOP field in CD-5

Susan Bitter SmithSusan Bitter SmithAfter two months of deliberations, Susan Bitter Smith is set to formally announce her entry into the CD5 Republican field. The official rollout will occur May 9.

Bitter Smith has long been speculated to join the now six-person race for the Republican nomination, and today's news is in line with rumblings that came from the campaign last week to the effect that she was almost assured to enter in early May.

She joins State Rep. Mark Anderson, Laura Knaperek, Jim Ogsbury, David Schweikert and Lee Adam Gentry in the hunt to take on U.S. Rep. Harry Mitchell in November.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but hasnt Bitter allready lost 2x in this race? 0 for 3 is a bad way to go out. She would have a better chance running as a democrat against Harry in the primary.

It is never too late for the best candidate in the field to enter the race. Those of you who know what is good for CD-5 will support Bitter-Smith.

She Is a RINO

Susan is a pro-choice, RINO. She has no shot at beating Harry. He might as well run against himself if she were to get out of the GOP field, which she wont

Everyone in the pool

What will be accomplished by another person in this race? With only weeks to go before the candidate deadline, I cannot see the benefit of Bitter-Smith joining the herd.

I can see no benefit, but I can see negatives: Donor pool is spread thinner than it already is, volunteer pool is watered down, no one gets to concentrate on Harry, they must work harder just to win the primary.

I hope Bitter-Smith announces her decision -to back one of the other candidates instead.

Let me clear this up!

It was a great honor to serve in the House for 12 years... and I know that my successor will feel the same way about his two years there!
I've said repeatedly on the air and elsewhere that it is important to have a "new name" as the GOP nominee in District 5...and I honestly don't know what I said that may have some thinking I'm getting in this race--because I assure you that I am not.
We have a good field of candidates, and I look forward to supporting the Republican nominee in November.
With McCain atop our ticket, I think it will greatly improve the chances of putting District 5 back in GOP hands!

I hope JD does enter the race and wins the Republican primary ... then he can lose again!

Hayworth?

I heard J.D. on the radio say he was interested in a re-match with Mitchell. If he gets in the race, I know who I will support in the primary!

J.D. All the way!
