Lord clubs Shadegg with GI Bill

Today Bob Lord, the Democratic attorney who is challenging Rep. John Shadegg (R-3) for the CD3 seat, has focused in on a bill introduced by Rep. Harry Mitchell (D-5) to paint Shadegg as "out of touch" with the district's needs, and one who won't support the military and their families.

Lord released a couple of communications today aimed at drawing a distinction between himself and Shadegg on the issue of the bill, which would update the Montgomery GI Bill to give full rides to reservists and National Guard members who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. The bill now looks like it will be incorporated into a wartime supplemental appropriation that has strong congressional support.

“We have a sacred duty to support our veterans and their families because they have sacrificed for us,” said Lord. “It’s hard to imagine why my opponent isn’t supporting this bill.”

Lord campaign manager Andrew Eldredge-Martin put it in harsher terms, saying Shadegg had "turned his back" on the veterans in his district, who number around 56,000.

“I'm trying to figure out why John Shadegg just isn't getting the needs of his district,” said Eldrege-Martin, who in the release had claimed Shadegg was "out of touch with his district and Arizona."

Shadegg has got to go...

So let me get this straight...Shadegg has or is voting against the GI bill and veterans (1), children's health insurance (2), and energy independence through solar (3). You have got to be kidding me!

The 3rd district needs a congressman who actually puts our children and our veterans first....Bob Lord just got my vote, and I'm telling all my friends!
